What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a method of psycho-physical re-education.
It is a method which teaches us to become aware of and eliminate harmful postural habits. It looks at eliminating the root causes of functional problems such as walking, bending, sitting…enabling proper co-ordination, balance, ease and freedom of movement to be restored.
Over the years we become so accustomed to the ways in which we sit, stand, walk, use a keyboard…etc, we fail to realise that it is often these habitual activities that strain our body making us to waste energy or have pains.
However, these unwanted tense habits are not inherited; they grow with us from a very early age by imitating how people around us move.
Excess tension in your body can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms and it can interfere with your ability to perform in your everyday life.
